"United States of America Goes to War!!"
Rochester, MN
9/7/09

The AWA Board of Directors continues to shake things up concerning the huge "Home Coming" to Duluth, Minnesota on October the 2nd at the legendary NorShor Theater. Earlier in the week, it was announced that reigning AWA World Heavyweight Champion, "The Human Massacre" Keith Walker would be defending his championship against Aaron Aguilera. The second contest to this event has been announced, pitting America's own The Patriot against new comer Ayra Daivair, the younger brother to TNA Wrestling's Sheik Abdul Bashir.

The Patriot will have a stacked deck against him as he is not only combating Davairi's speed, quickness, and agility, he will be doing battle against Daivair's mentor as well. AWA Legend Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie will be stepping back into the ring as the two men from the Middle East tangle with one of America's heroes!

Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie's skills in the ring are unquestionable as he, along with Chief Jay Strongbow captured the WWWF World Tag Team Championships, but his evil mind games are were his true abilities lie! Al-Kaissie is known throughout professional wrestling of being one of very few men who were ever able to control the likes of Bruiser Brody, Big John Nord, The Masked Superstar, and even Sgt. Slaughter in his battle with Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania VII.

Daivair is looking to climb the ranks of "Wrestling Superstars - LIVE!" and defeating a veteran such as The Patriot would certainly do that. Perhaps the AWA Light Heavyweight Championship is on his mind?

As the entire professional wrestling world mourns the loss of a true legend in our business, the entire staff of WSL INC. extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Mitsuharu Misawa during this difficult time. Misawa revolutionized our sport and will forever be remembered as one of the greatest of all time.

Rumors of Mr. Anderson's debut send shockwaves through Wrestling Superstars - LIVE!

Reporter: Roger Dorn

Rochester, MN

Ken Anderson has accomplished many things in his wrestling career. He's been apart of some of the most famous matches in history. However, there is one thing that has always eluded him - the World Heavyweight Championship. Sources have told members of WSL, INC. management that Mr. Anderson wants to challenge the reigning AWA World Heavyweight Champion, "The Human Massacre" Keith Walker and realize his destiny.

Wrestling fans remember another man whose cocky attitude led him to several World title reigns by the name of Nick Bockwinkel. Mr. Anderson would have some big boots to fill, but he has the reputation for living up to his word in the squared circle, much like Mr. Bockwinkel.

With speculation running rampant concerning Ken Anderson and the announcement yesterday afternoon with regarding "Wrestling Superstars - LIVE!" and the AWA's "Home Coming" to Duluth, Minnesota, will we see this match of epic proportions take place between the cocky Anderson and the monstrous Walker?

We'll have more on this story as it develops!

WWE EXPERIENCES AN INCOVENIANCE?
Wrestling Juggernaut Forced to Change Plans!

UPDATE:

Only a mere week after "Wrestling Superstars - LIVE!" was forced to postpone its upcoming event in Sheridan, Colorado due to WWE's legal department, World Wrestling Entertainment has been thrown out into the proverbial cold. Enraged by this, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has been on every major sports outlet from ESPN to Sport Illustrated touting wrong doing by Kroenke Sports Enterprises and the Pepsi Center due to Game Four of the NBA Playoffs taking place within the same venue as Monday Night Raw was scheduled for. However, instead of doing what would be right by the ticket holders and fans of his product, the WWE has moved Raw, as well as a Smackdown/ECW TV Taping and a house show event all out of the state of Colorado to Los Angeles' Staple Center.

Now there will be no professional wrestling events taking place in Colorado next week. However, stay checked into www.wrestlingsuperstarslive.com as we schedule a new date with Red and Jerry's in Sheridan to once again bring wrestling back to the Rocky Mountains! That's a promise!

Do McMahon and the WWE believe that everyone has just forgotten about canceling dates in Mexico, scheduling them in Alabama, canceling those dates, and then deciding to go to Mexico anyways? Certainly hasn't been the first time, nor be the last.

First, "Wrestling Superstars - Live!".. Then, the Denver Nuggets.. Tomorrow, the whole state of Colorado!

Reporter: Kenneth Dotson

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

In what has fans across the Rocky Mountains scratching their heads, the same "Entertainment" company who filed complaint against "Wrestling Superstars - Live!" due to trademark violations on independent non-contracted athletes who were schedule to appear on an event on May 29th in Sheridan, CO has taken on another force in the great state of Colorado!

The said "Entertainment" organization is now seeking legal action against the Denver Nuggets over May 25th and the Pepsi Center, where Game Four of the NBA playoffs is scheduled take place. This is the first time since 1985 that the Nuggets are in the conference.

WSL, INC., an AWA Company, President and CEO, Dale R. Gagne contacted Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke offering his support and had a lengthy conversation regarding how to deal with the WWE and Vince McMahon. Could a possible working relationship be in store between WSL and the Pepsi Center? When asked, Gagne simply replied, "We have an obligation to produce an event at the popular Red and Jerry's this Summer that was postponed due to WWE's monopolizing tactics. They even went as far as to indicate that our show was "unfair competition" when in fact, their own internal correspondences support them in not considering anyone their competition. Before we get ahead of ourselves with future partnerships we have an obligation to the fans of this great sport to produce an alternative product, we'll focus on that for now."

Will fans of any sport be able to enjoy their respected favorite past times without the say so of an "Entertainment" company?

We'll have more on this late breaking story as more information comes in.

REMEMBERING THE "FABULOUS PLAYBOY"!
Rochester, MN

Reporter: Kenneth Dotson

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Nearly a month has pasted since the wrestling world lost a true legend, "The Fabulous Playboy" Buddy Rose. For over thirty years, Buddy Rose enlightened, entertained, and enraged wrestling fans all over the country. From his time in the Pacific Northwest feuding with "green horn" new comers like Roddy Piper to battling Bob Backlund at the world famous Madison Square Garden, Rose touched the lives of millions through his charismatic mic work and villain-like tactics.

When asked to comment, "Wrestling Superstars - LIVE!" President and Executive Director, Dale Gagne stated, "Buddy was one of a kind. His matches, along with Doug Somers against the "Midnight Rockers" were absolutely text book in how tag team wrestling should be done. He (Buddy Rose) was instrumental in getting Marty Jannety and Shawn Michaels on the map."

Buddy leaves behind his wife, Tammy, daughter, Alexia, and two grand children, Sofie and Luke. Our deepest condolences go out to the family during this difficult time.

HELD DOWN BY "THE MAN"!
Rochester, MN
5/14/09
Reporter: Ronald Gardocki

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Wrestling Superstars - LIVE! has the unfortunate responsibility to inform all of our great fans that the May 29th show, scheduled at Colorado's own Red and Jerry's, has been postponed.

A cease and desist notice was sent to members of our venue, Red and Jerry's, as well as upper management within our organization stating that due to image and name trademark violations, the show could not go on as originally planned. It is an unfortunate event that the WSL office was given incorrect information on who actually owns the rights to certain individual images. We apologize to those who worked so hard to put this show together, our staff, our athletes, Red and Jerry's, and most importantly - you, our loyal fans. Members of the WSL, INC. office are currently rescheduling the show to a later date so that these conflicts with the "entertainment" company can be resolved. Once we receive confirmation for all of our talent on their availability we will set the new date. Stay tuned to www.wrestlingsuperstarslive.com for the latest developments on this story.

Once said, always said - "The Show MUST go on."

A Scandal on the "Ryze"?
Rochester, MN
5/06/09
Reporter: Grant Thomas

A mysterious package arrived today at the home office of WSL, INC. The contents of the package were rather shocking. Derek Ryze, a new face in Wrestling Superstars - LIVE!, known for his quiet demeanor as his actions in the ring speaks for their selves, took part in the 44th Annual Cauliflower Alley Club Convention held at the Gold Coast Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. For long periods of time, Ryze would disappear from the group. Phone calls would go unanswered and attempts to reach him would fail. He would show up late to afternoon meetings, leave seminars early, and even skip out briefly during the banquet. When questioned, Derek Ryze would state, "I was in my room."

The pieces of the puzzle have now come together. Within the package were several photographs of Derek Ryze "out on the town" in Las Vegas. While the source wished to remain anonymous, he followed Derek Ryze through out the city and took these photographs of the unsuspecting Ryze. One photograph even depicted Ryze reading an adult newspaper. And in the same photograph "questionable chaperone" business cards can be seen in his shirt pocket.

The package also contained a copy of the online job application to the male exotic dance group - "Chippendales", allegedly filled out by Ryze himself. Is Derek Ryze living a double life? These photos below certainly make a strong case.

Derek Ryze refused to comment on this story to members of our WSL News Team. But I can assure you I will strip this story bare…right down to its naked truth.

The 15 Year Reign as a King!

The year was 1994. OJ Simpson had traded in his Nike's for a white Ford Bronco, Forest Gump reigned supreme at the box office, The Bodyguard soundtrack was playing on every radio station, and the players of Major League Baseball went on strike - thus canceling the World Series. All this and so much more defined 1994, but it also marked the beginning of something else - the first time Steve Corino would first step into a professional wrestling ring.

Under the training and guidance of Tom Brandi and King Kalulah, Corino would learn the skills and ability to become a great professional wrestler. Following child hood heroes "Wildfire" Tommy Rich and Tully Blanchard, he would travel south away from his Philadelphia home to one of the original hot beds of professional wrestling, the Carolinas. There, he would compete in the Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts (OMEGA) with Matt and Jeff Hardy. The hard work would soon pay off.

In 1998, after only four years in the business, Steve Corino would venture back to his Philadelphia home and into the land of the extreme. It was in ECW where most American wrestling fans will put the name Corino in the annuals of time. "The King of Old School" was born and quickly became one of the most hated men in wrestling, challenging veterans like "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes and invading live concerts being held by bands like Limp Bizkit all while telling fans that the "new" was immoral and wrong.

In the year 2000, Steve Corino would evolve from more then just a trash talking villain of the squared circle. He would become a World Heavyweight Champion by defeating the likes of hardcore icons like Justin Credible, Jerry Lynn, and The Sandman.

In 2001, one chapter would end. A new one was just beginning. He would go on to capture the famed NWA World Heavyweight Championship, further cementing his place within wrestling history. Corino would also form one of Japan's most dominant American tag teams to ever compete within Japan since The Funk Brothers with C.W. Anderson under the name "The Extreme Horsemen".

A few short years later, Corino would turn his attention to another championship. In 2005, Steve Corino defeated Takao Omori in Tokyo, Japan to become the new AWA Heavyweight Champion of the World, becoming the only man in history to ever hold the AWA, NWA, and ECW Heavyweight Championships. He would also become a tag team champion, as well as defeat Ric Converse to regain his championship after losing it in Japan against long time rival Shinjiro Otani.

After brutal wars battles in the American Wrestling Alliance, Japan, and Ring of Honor, Steve Corino would retire from professional wrestling in 2007.

Or would he?

A mysterious masked man would appear on the islands of Hawaii. After the blessing of the legendary Mr. Wrestling 2, Mr. Wrestling 3 would take the world by storm. With the pride of the Mr. Wrestling name and the strong willed passion of his heart, Steve Corino would once again return to the wrestling ring. Regardless of location, whether it is the United States, Germany, Japan, or Puerto Rico, Steve Corino sits at a throne in the kingdom of professional wrestling.

This past weekend, in Michigan City, Indiana, Steve Corino and his son Colby would battle Erico and his son Taylor at an AWA Platinum Pro Wrestling event. This was no ordinary match; it held a special place in his heart. Not only would he be wrestling along side his son Colby, this match would mark 15 years to the date that he began his journey in wrestling. AWA Platinum Pro Wrestling promoter, Mr. Walter Tyskie would present Steve Corino with a plaque commemorating the event.

From Wrestling Superstars - Live and all members of the American Wrestling Alliance, we congratulate "Mr. Wrestling 3" Steve Corino for 15 years of hard work, dedication, and passion for this business.

Thank you for every moment over the last 15 years.

A TRUE MAT CLASSIC
As the wrestling world rushes to see “The Wrestler” at their
local theaters, the AWA remembers a true “Mat Classic”!

In 1974, almost a decade before our current World Light Heavyweight Champion, Krazy K, was born; “The Wrestler” took to the silver screen as famous television star Ed Asner played the part of a wrestling promoter named “Frank Bass”. Bass, who took a stand against gamblers, mobsters, power hungry wrestlers, and con artist promoters, decided to do his part to make the wrestling industry honest as he promoted an “over the hill” champion in the final matches of his career.

Much like Mickey Rourke’s character Randy “The Ram” Robinson in the upcoming movie of the same name, this “washed up” wrestler, named Mike Bollar, was considered by many of his peers as “washed up” and “past his prime”. The character of Mike Bullard would go on to prove that with enough determination, the impossible could become possible. You may ask, who was this champion of the squared circle would go on to prove that age has nothing to do with the passion for professional wrestling that burned inside his heart?

None other than former AWA World Heavyweight Champion Verne Gagne!

Verne Gagne would not only act in the movie, but do what he could do best! Wrestle! “Mike Bollar” would grapple with the likes of Larry “The Ax” Hennig, father of the late AWA World Heavyweight Champion “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig., in the first wrestling match at the world famous Cow Palace located outside of San Francisco, California. A new challenger named Billy Taylor, played by wrestling great Billy Robinson, would come to challenge the veteran in hopes of taking his championship away. It was up to Gagne’s character to battle against all odds with only wrestling promoter “Frank Bass” by his side.

Also in the film are many of your favorite AWA Legends such as Former AWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel, “Superstar” Billy Graham, Dusty Rhodes, Ray “The Crippler” Stevens, Dick Murdoch, The Crusher, The Bruiser, Pedro Morales, Ken Patera, Dory Funk, Jr., Dan Gable, “Jumping” Jim Brunzell, Eddie Graham, Ed “Wahoo” McDaniels, Lord James Blears, Danny Hodge, Don Muraco, and a very young “Rick Flair”, as he was listed with the spelling in the movie’s closing credits.

A surprise appearance by former World Wrestling Federation chairman, Vincent J. McMahon, in an actual acting role!

As the Darren Aronofsky directed film gets positioned to go nationwide by the end of the month, it calls for a time to reflect on where we all would be without the Heros of our past. It is those Heros that have paved the way for the future generations. Just like 1974’s “The Wrestler” set the stage for a new generation to find professional wrestling, Verne Gagne opened the door for the new generation of stars of Wrestling Superstars Live and the AWA!

WRESTLING SUPERSTAR RIC FLAIR IN ROANOKE
Article Courtesy of WDBJ7.com, Roanoke, VA

Thousands of people stood in a line that wrapped around furniture store Shewls in Roanoke. Some looking for bargains, but most were waiting to meet professional wrestling legend Ric Flair.

After surviving a 1975 plane crash, Flair's career first reached main event status while making frequent stops in Roanoke with Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling.

"Roanoke is one of the best wrestling towns for a smaller town than anywhere in the country," said Flair.

After 35 years and many world titles, Flair retired in March from wrestling and left the WWE a few months later.

Still at the age of 59, retirement hasn't put the Hall of Famer in a rocking chair. This week he is shooting the pilot for a new reality show in addition to more public appearances across the country to meet the fans.

"It's something new for me. I'm really enjoying it. It's something I've never really done, taking time to say "Hi" to fans," said Flair. "It's a lot of fun for me."

Review of the Ric Flair Definitive Collection

So I stayed up until about 3am watching the new Ric Flair DVD and let me tell you it was well worth it. It made you laugh; it made you cry and gave you a whole new meaning to what passion for pro wrestling is all about. I liked a lot of the stories he told about his times in WCW and WWE. I liked his thoughts on Sting, Hogan, Bischoff, Jim Herd and Ricky Steamboat. He talks candidly about them and doesn’t hold anything back.

After watching the DVD, there is a lot I found about WCW and the politics that went into it. One story I heard was when Flair came back to WCW after losing to Mr. Perfect on Raw, Ole Anderson told him that he was no value to him because he lost to Perfect on national TV. All I can say wow. My first impression was that there is no shame in losing to Curt Hennig on national TV. Then he spoke of how he made the introductions to Savage and Hogan that allowed Bischoff to sign them. Interesting stuff that make me love pro wrestling even more then I already did.

The matches on this DVD are great. My two favorites are Flair vs. Steamboat in 94, one of Steamboats last matches and Flair vs. Sting from the first Clash of the Champions. I still think Sting should come to WWE, and Ric even said his biggest mistake was not signing with WWE, because he was better then Warrior or Hogan ever thought about being. I also liked in one of the extras that his current wife talks about the relationship he has with Batista, Randy Orton, Triple H and Shawn Michaels during the Evolution run. Apparently Shawn rode with them and hung out with them. But she described it as they were a family. The one final thing that captured my attention is how Ric said the Wrestlemania 24 was the greatest weekend of his life. The Hall of Fame, his match with Shawn and the farewell on Raw were special to him. It’s a stylin’ and profilin’ DVD.

Anyone who is anyone in this business needs to buy this DVD. I don’t care if you’re fan, wrestler, wrestler, promoter or whatever you need to buy this DVD. Ric embodies passion in pro wrestling and what it takes to be a champion. To me he is the greatest pro wrestler of all time. Guys like Hogan, Hart, HBK, HHH and others are awesome and no one will ever replace them but Ric Flair stands out more then they do. Like I said before, if you love this wacky crazy world of pro wrestling you need to own this DVD, even it’s the only wrestling DVD you ever buy, this needs to be the one that you buy. Watch it, enjoy it and love it, because to Be the man, you have to beat the man….WHOOOO!
